On May 1, web hosting provider Swiss Cloud Computing announced that it had been the victim of a ransomware attack. The incident began on April 27 and had a serious impact on the company’s server infrastructure. As the company announced in an official statement<\/a> on Monday, the functionality is not yet back to normal operating levels. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

One of the most prominent customers affected by the outage of the Swiss Cloud is Sage, a company that offers payroll and HR software for the German-speaking world. Swiss Cloud announced that the individual services are now being put back into operation step by step. Cloud services \u2013 which many customers access in real time to store, retrieve or manage data \u2013 are particularly lucrative targets for attackers. Encrypting their infrastructure has a direct impact on customers, which increases the pressure to quickly restore operational services. In the event of an attack on your own cloud service, you should be aware of the risks: <\/p>

    If you are a customer of Swiss Cloud or Sage, we recommend that you follow updates on the companies’ websites. Swiss Cloud will provide the next update by May 6. <\/p>

    We also recommend that you store your backup data on a separate, external drive, not just in the cloud. At the moment, there is no evidence that customer data has been compromised.
